That guitar sounds incredible!

The recording engineer is a great guy to work with and has been in the business for decades. I was finger-picking my Sinker Redwood FD-14-X for one piece and after I finished, he made a point to come into the recording room (instead of talking through my headphones) to tell me how impressive the guitar sounded, especially since he is using a mostly acoustic mix. And this from a guy who doesn't mind Ovations at all. I remember Mike and John at the factory telling me when I picked it up that this guitar had something extra they couldn't explain. Apparently others pick up on it too. Still, don't you love it when someone talks to you in that "I had no idea Ovations could sound that good!" kind of tone?

Nowadays, so many people seem to have difficulty getting past the "bowl" back. Sure would love to hear a sound clip of your FD-14-X.

My recording project is mostly about getting my music down for my kids, but I'm sure I will make it available in other ways. I'm not a professional, but I do enjoy my hobby, and people seem to be mostly complimentary when I play and sing. Still, I am perfectly aware that there are people, especially on forums like this one, who can play and sing rings around me, stop on a dime, and give me a nickel in change. I've been at this project a while this year off-and-on, but I'm not sure how long it will take to finish. Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be a very expenisve time waster.

I had it installed because it was what was in the original run of FD-14s. In this case however, I'm told the recordings will lean heavily to the acoustic sound versus the plugged-in tone.

I knew he was the man, because I'd heard his work with other acoustic players. When I first contacted him about recording he was downright dismissive of Ovation: "Hey, I have a couple of Martins and a Taylor in the studio, so don't worry...." When Jeff and I got there and started to warm up on our axes (Adams 1581-5 and Elite X-768), he couldn't believe his ears. As we began to listen back our tunes, he was floored by the sound quality and projection. We recorded raw: unplugged, with no effects going into the board. Dr. CAW has been a convert ever since has never used the "M" word or the "T" word in our company again!!
