I understand the number one complaint about Ovations, from those who do not feel the love, is the "plastic backs" of the guitar. I took a very close look at my 1778 lx, and I can't tell you how beautiful the wood is on this baby. That vintage looking spruce on top, the neck, fingerboard, the headstock (front and back, and the gorgeous laser cut eps. It took several types of woods to make this 1778 look just beautiful. It may not be all wood, but the woods they used were really high quality and so appealing to the eye.

IMO, it doesn't get any more beautiful than this (in the current 1537 FS thread)

I would have expected this comment from BobG. I'll bet he's mad you beat him to it!

To be fair, Jay is the only one who's actually SEEN Patch's wood.

"Jay is the only one who's actually SEEN Patch's wood"

Understandably so, Patch is very clear that he has a "look, don't touch" policy.

Well, in retrospect, maybe that was just his policy with me.
