Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent | My sunburst 1537 showed up today. No box, but it was wrapped in two layers of bubble wrap and a single layer of wrapping plastic. Still, it seems to be OK. The condition could be a lot worse for a 25YO. It has four noticeable dings, all of them in the dark part of the burst. The battery box, sans cover, is laying in the accessories compartment. One of the epaulettes has a 3/8" crack in it, but it's still flush to the soundboard. The neck needs a serious cleaning. And, of all things, the label is half gone?! It got in too late for pictures, but it was nasty, wet, and cold here today anyway. I'm taking a project up to the mothership this week or next, I think I'll take this one along and get Kim's opinion about a little spa treatment if it's not too expensive.
On a lighter note. The strings look like they were recycled from a 50's Kay, but they still tuned to pitch. And OHHH can he pitch! He's (This one's definitely a he.) got everything you've ever heard about a 1537 in his arsenal. If it sounds this nice with 20th century strings on it, I can't wait to here it with fresh ammo!
I'll try to get some pictures with the next decent weather. |

(*There was no year 0, because the Romans don't have a digit for 0) |

I can't think of a wiser way to invest 600 bucks! I'm driving to the mothership tomorrow to drop off a project Kim Keller and I cooked up (see my other thread), so I think I'll take this one in for the spa treatment as well. Ovarall, I'm pert-darn content guitar-wise at the moment. I'm sure it'll last at least an hour. :p   |
