I wonder if anyone here has one of these, or has played one or knows something about them.

I am able to find out lots of info on 1778's but nothing much on the 2778LX other than Deep Contoured Bowl, scalloped bracing, and OP or OP pro?
pre-amp (I wouldn't know the difference)

I am considering buying one for my son who turns 18 tomorrow,so he'll leave my 1537 alone

Any info and opinions would be appreciated

I have never played a 2778... But I have played a 2078T.

I do not think that there is a 2778LX...
The 2778AX is made in Korea, has an OP-Pro, Scalloped X bracing and a dovetail neck joint.
(I am not Totally sure about the neck joint, only pretty sure)
If you read the description, it does sound like a pretty nice guitar, inlaid epis and all.
I would recommend the New England Burst... It just looks right on an Elite.
You can get them for less than $600 on da Bay...
But I don't know if it will keep him away from your 1537!

There is a 2778Lx. They are not made anymore. Production was sent to asia, hence the new ax or tx or whatever it is now.

I have had one, and gave it to my partner in crime, J, who plays backup to me in my cover band. I still play it on occasion. It's identical to a 6778LX (another casualty to oversees production) but with a contour bowl instead of a mid. They're great guitars. If you have a chance to own one for a fair price, go for it.

Side note, i'd play the 2778lx over the 1537 anyday and twice on Sunday in a live plugged-in situation because of the electronics.

Type "handshavednoodles" into youtube and you can see him playing it on some of our songs

Awesome news. Thank you so much for your input I jumped on one for 320 with case. It has a piece missing on one ear but seems to be the only issues. Now time to hurry up and wait... It's coming from Ontario via pony express. I'll post pics when it arrives. And a review
