Location: Mobile, Bama! | Just curious ...when the time is right, I'd love to pick up a greyburst.
All the photos I've seen have the block inlays ... I seem to remember from somewhere that was a cost cutting measure cause they weren't selling? And the greys (and whites) both had the blocks, cause they were introduced a little later? Along with the newer tailpiece on the greys and whites?
I love the bowties ...I think they look really classy ... |

I think that when the white and barnboard were introduced they had the abalone blocks.
The bowties were polyester and machined to shape and cost 50% more or maybe double that of real abalone squares. Making that decision to switch was easy, even though the bowties look cool. |

Location: Mobile, Bama! | There is a greyburst on Ebay right now, but its pretty banged up .. most disturbing (to me anyway) is that the headstock has part of the Ovation logo missing. I don't mind honest players wear, but the logo kills it for me.
My brown one has a lot of edge wear too around the edges, but I've been able to cover it fairly well using some of those wood grain dye markers that Lowes sell for furniture dings.
The black one came in fairly dirty, but it cleaned/shined right up.
Sorry ... I have a.d.d. ...I tend to ramble and get off topic. |

That's when you find yourself 300 miles from home sitting in a Denny's getting the Senior's discount but you can't remember driving there...
Now, let's work on a visual.
