Location: Augusta, GA | Hey guys, I'm currently trading a Goodsell amp over on the gear page, and I've been offered up this guitar as part of a trade package:
http://www.ovationguitars.com/?fa=detail&mid=1959
It's a brand new Ovation 2006 limited edition koa collectors acoustic /electric w/ built in tuner and hs case. Model is FKOA.
Anybody got an idea of the resale value on this? I'd probably end up keeping it as I love Ovations, and always welcome another one...but I really need to be able to judge the resale value to evaluate the trade. So any of you experts out there please let me know. Thanks.

Location: Augusta, GA | Thanks for the link. I saw a few others selling new (discontinued) for between $1500-$2k. So yes, that helps.
Do any of you guys have personal experience w/ these guitars? Any feedback on tone, build quality, etc. would be much appreciated. |

Location: South of most, North of few | I had one at one time (surprise?) and in spite of some others comments about it being "dark" sounding, I really thought it was one of the better sounding O's I've owned. Definitely one of the prettiest. I would think closer to 1200.00 though, market being as it is. There have been a few for sale, in pristine shape, for around the 1k range. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I tried a new one back in 2006 and wasn't too impressed. Then I tried one during the last year at Apple Music in Portland and really liked it. The top had probably opened up a bit, plus I put on a few pounds so the contour bowl fit better. I think it was around $1600, too. |

Location: Round Rock, TX | I am very pleased with mine. I have had it (and played it) long enough for the sound to really open up and it is has become my favorite O. I am looking forward to seeing how much more the sound improves as time goes by.
The prices I have seen for ones that actually sell do tend to center around the $1200 range as TJ mentioned. |
