Ebay item #120412880629
Just to make anyone who may be interested aware, aside from everything else that doesn't work on the cct board, after a recent enquiry about shipping to the UK, I was told the pre amp would need several new parts.
As I think a working preamp would be the main reason why someone would want to buy this, I thought it may be best to let other members know, as it's not mentioned in the item description. It just doesn't look as though much of the electrics are any use at all! Maybe he just don't want to send to the UK!
Cheers

I had a BLFG bid.

It was mentioned here as well previously
Here

I already have a non working one and thought about it for parts.

I'd rather pay more for one in working order.

And I don't need one at the moment.

Hi Jim, thanks for your post. I've got this seemingly common fault on a Deacon, where the guitar only works with the tone turned full-off.
I'm lead to believe a new pre-amp would solve this problem. The guy who is selling has emailed me again saying now that he doesn't know for sure what is or isn't working on it, as he only bought it for spares. Don't let me put anyone off placing a bid if they think they can make some use of it.

G'day Clyde,
Now that you mention it, I forgot that I do have one of my Deacons with a somewhat similar fault.
Haven't played it for about 18 months.
I'll have to drag it out and confirm the problem.

It's not just a deacon/bw common problem...
on all of the active circuit O's from that time, more often than not it's the old mil-spec pots that cause the problem.

unfortunately there aren't many of those pots around anymore unless you have a aircraft salvage yard or know of one nearby...

some members here have found work-arounds. and I was lucky enough to have other members here diagnose and fix a Preacher Deluxe for me.

Thanks Brudev and Chatman!

at one time there was talk of some of the more electronically inclined building replacement boards.... but that has since faded away.

The Misundastood Old Black Preacher (Deluxe) I believe still resides at the home of MR. Golf...

Hi Glenn, thanks for that information, very interesting to know. This Deacon I have was in a really bad state when it arrived, so much so that I ended up carving a new body. I tried the electrics before they went in & they seemed ok. I'm starting to wonder now if I did something when I took them out of the old body. I will go back and have a look at the tone pot.

Hi Steve - Thanks very much for the link, the tone pot capacitor replacement had just sprung to mind.
