Location: Marlton, NJ | I'm looking to buy either a Legend 1867 or Custom Legend 1869. I'm looking for a guitar in near-mint condition and with a modern preamp (OP-30 or better).

I guess in the midst of the size issue, I lost track of my purpose....
Here it is
Says it's an 1820. (?) The "20 Years" TRC looks like something I might have designed.
A lot of anniversaries in one guitar. The reason I mentioned it was that the rosette and bottom of the fretboard, as well as the binding look custom legendish. |

Location: Tennessee | That looks like a 1869 custom legend to me with a add-on TRC. That model has the Kaman Bar, so the TRC is just for show. Maybe it was a special short-run, but I've never seen one before and it is certainly not any of the 30th Anniversary models that were made. Optima in there definitely is WAY later than a 20 year anniversary would be. |

Location: Marlton, NJ | It's an interesting beast. It seems to be a custom guitar built for Thoroughbred Music in Florida (who was later acquired by Sam Ash). According to the seller, the label inside reads "Thoroughbred 20th Anniversary/Ovation 30th Anniversary" and with the model number 1820-4. Huh? The receipt says it's an 1824 (never trust a receipt), and finally the owners manual says it's an 1869-4 (that's more like it). Also, it's supposed to be number 6 of 12, supporting that it's a custom model. The Optima preamp has an XLR output.
So the years sound about right: Thoroughbred Music opened in 1976 and Ovation started in 1966, dating the guitar at 1996. |

Location: Marlton, NJ | I found an 1869 with an OP-50 preamp, carved bridge, and in excellent condition for $750. Does that sound like a reasonable price? I've seen them sell for cheaper, but the newer preamp and excellent condition would seem to make it worth more. |

Location: Pewaukee, WI | Is that at Daves Guitar? It was mine until I traded it there. I bought it used from a forum member, and had it shipped to the mothership to add the carved bridge. Really nice playing/sounding. I miss it, but have a one in/one out rule. |
