Okay - it's been almost two weeks since I assumed ownership of a FD-14 that T28 was oh so gracious to send my way (always a gentleman that fella and just excellent to trade with).

I was going to try and give an overview in comparsion to some of my other O's - but I can't! I haven't been able to pickup any of my other guitars (1719, Adamas Re-Issue, Book Elite, 2005ES etc). I just don't want to play them - I can't seem to put the FD down.

When I opened the case I was taken back by the beauty of the cedar top (my first one) and thought it was stunning. When I picked it up I was thrown off by the weight, I thought it was far to light at first. I loved the slot head - that's just a treat to look at - but the weight did throw me off.

When I sat down to strum it I was just floored - the sound - I just can't describe it. While all my other guitars have certain features that I just love - the FD was all around amazing. Full sound, easy to strum, light to the touch and so easy to play and play and play. Plugged in, it continued to thrill me to no end.

The only thing I can say is that everything I've read is true - I'm a believer. The FD14 is the best sounding, easiest playing O that I have had the opportunity to play.

Thanks Stephen, I owe you one!!

No worries Jeff - I'm sure Stephen has something to trade his way out (I also heard he still has one left!)...

I got to play an FD14 that was on loan to Woody a few months ago. Very sweet-sounding Ovation. I only got a few moments with her, but I'm definitely a fan of cedar tops after this. I just bought a used Tak cedar/koa on the bay that is an awesome sounding instrument (though no FD14), but that one is definitely on the "hope to acquire" list one day...along with about 20 others.

I need help.

Glad it lived up to the hype Dan.

I had the action on that one set really low so I am not surprised you find it so easy to play.

Jeff.....I still got one buddy.....it's not going anywhere. There are just a couple a members on this board that always seem to email me in a moment of weakness asking what I got available. Dan was pretty quick to grab this one! I believe his email read something to the effect "I have already paypal'ed you the funds so it's too late to come to your senses and change your mind!"

Enjoy Dan......I might have a 1581 or a U681T available in the near future.
