Saturday a.m. went to the book store.... bought W. Carter's book. Outstanding. Definitely worth the read.... cwk2 looks a little shaggy in a couple of the pick. :)

Then I went to the local music store. Picked up Matt's chop shop book. again. outstanding.

Read both cover to cover last night. looks like i'll be spending a lot of time on Matt's book. (Gee, sounds like an excuse for more fretboard time!!!!!)

have you seen Matt in person? He makes me want to quit playing all together. I spent a long evening with Matt, Darc and Billybob one night with a pile of beer and an even bigger pile of philosophy. Had a great time but I still should give up playing guitar....

Hey Al, why should you be different from the rest of us? At the NAMM show in Anaheim, I saw Matt play mandolin with John Jorgenson on guitar. Effortless and incredible. Everybody else at every other booth sounded like base nose pickers in comparison. Why should I even try?

Buts it like a Taylor ad I once saw. I can go home and drink beer, or go home and play guitar. But I can tell you absolutely that my wife and kids will never comment on how much better my beer drinking is. You tell me which is better to do.

Al,

Jim, you've just reminded me of the story about the kid who says, "Dad, when I grow up I wanna be a guitar player" & his dad replies "make up your mind son, one or the other"

Paul

I think I saw matt perform a dozen times at the past namm show. All I do is scratch my head and think how the hell does he do that?????
I also quit after seeing Richard Thompson last year. In fact I quit playing guitar quite regularly come to think of it... One of this days you think I would be serious about it..
