I like a true acoustic sound. There is only a 10.00 difference between the two (39.99 for the "Plus", and 49.99 for the "Gold") so that is not an issue. I just wonder which pick-up will give me the best ACOUSTICAL sound?

Location: Shelton, Washington, USA | Norse(pithy phrase in parentheses)man, Perhaps you could try going to a music store that carries both pick-ups and do a side by side comparison.... and pick the one that you feel gives you the sound you like best.
Personally, I've used Markley Pro Mags.... If you gave one to me, I'd put in the garage sale pile (and I wouldn'd ask very much for it come sale time.) |

Location: Back in the Valley of the Sun Mesa Az. | Fair enough Jiminos. I probably should check out their sound. I think it's obvious from my post, I'm trying to keep my costs down. Not performing, just playing. Someday when I can afford to, I will move up to a higher quality pick-up. My main question I guess more specifically, would be if a regular single coil, or a Humbuckling coil would give the best acoustic sound. As I recall, the state of the art Ovations years back used a single coil. People that use them today, still like them. Perhaps that's the route I should take.

Location: Scotland | No matter which magnetic pickup you buy, and regardless of what the manufacturers say, one thing is absolutely certain, they all work much better if you use nickel, rather than phosphor- bronze or bronze strings. If you use bronze strings with a magnetic pickup the pickup is only really "hearing" the core of the wound strings. Tone, output & string balance is improved considerably with nickel-wound, electric guitar strings.

Location: NJ | do a google search on lace sensor and get to their site I do not have a link. look for the california acoustic pickup that is the one I am familiar with and like vey much.
The Dean Markley are good pickups I used to carry them but there are better ones out there. I was never a big fan of the fishman systems but they do work well. In all honesty you really can;t beat the ovation or takamine on board pickups and preamps. |
