Location: North Carolina | As a beginner, I picked up my first Ovation (Standard Elite LX NEB) not long ago, and as it was my first A/E, had money in my pocket burning to buy an amp. I deal mostly with my local dealer here in NC,( gotta stick in a plug for Jeff's Amazing Music Store, "JAMS", in Gastonia, a great bunch of folks!) and after comparing a Marshall and Crate amp to it, ended up buying a Yorkville AM100. It's a 2-channel 100w acoustic amp with lots of effects (2 banks of 16 each). I felt like it sounded cleaner than the others I tried (I don't even know what most of the effects mean, just wanted it to sound like my guitar!) If anyone has had any experience with this amp, I would be interested in your comments. Thanks!

Location: Toronto | I agree with CWKII - Yorkville does make some pretty good stuff - the factory is just down the road from me.
Yorkville is a subsidurary of Long & McQuade - which happens to be one of the biggest music stores in the Country (and yes, they do stock Yorkville stuff too!)...
One thing for sure - good equipment - but really really bad customer service!!

Location: NJ | When I played bass, I had a Traynor YBA-1 bass amp with a 6x10 cab. Great little amp!
Lost 'em both in a flood . . . :( |

Location: Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey | I have a Yorkville PA that I still use occasionally...fantastic for the money, and VERY reliable.
I was looking, about a year ago, into getting one of their acoustic amps...but never got to try one.

I would hardly call a 6x10 cab "little".
Sounds more like a back breaker to me...specially if you ever did stairs! |

Steph; . . the amp "head" was little . .
That cabinet was a major nutstrain!
At the time, I lived (with my parents) in a 2nd floor apartment in Paterson, NJ.
Needless to say, trying to sneak that thing back into my room at 3am (wasted . . ) without getting caught was a exercise in "stealth" and "Testicular Fortitude".
. . . there were several occasions where I came THIS CLOSE to re-enacting that classic scene of Laurel & Hardy losing that upright piano on that flight of stairs . . . |
