Go read FedEx annual report. They make 11 cents on every dollar they charge you and I and they provide meaningful employment for 225,000 people. Hardly what I would call crooks.

Now that the topic has drifted... (my fault)

I finally watched the Whole movie last week. (Cast Away)
I have seen bits and pieces of it, but had never watched the whole thing til now.

What sux? Tom Hanks' character didn't get EITHER girl in the end.

While "Cast Away" was a pretty good flick, my favorite FedEX line from a film is from Runaway Bride..

Excuse inaccuracies... been awhile since I've actually seen the film but.....

When Julia runs out the Church and jumps on a FedEX truck. Pan back to the guys at the church...

1. Where's she goin?
2. Don't know, but she'll be there by 10:00 am tomorrow.

I laugh just think'n about it.

Didn't see Runaway Bride but that line is funny as heck. Must add it to Netflix queue. Thanks Miles.

Beal has a point. It's why I mostly use plain boxes from Uline, although I have used other boxes.

A nameless box is not as tempting as a Fender or Gibson box. In either case someone can lift the box and have cash in-hand in under an hour, long before the intended recipient even knows it's missing.

I used a Martin box. I know, not any better.

I did make sure I had the insurance claim tag today. So we're ready to go if need be. I hope it shows though, it's a great guitar.

Strap in for the ride of a lifetime if you're going for an insurance claim. Don't mean to be a wet blanket here, but I've been through it with UPS, and it took a couple of months to get anything out of them. Hope it shows up soon Mike.

On the subject of boxes, here's what I was told (by someone who deals with this on QUITE a regular basis), and had to deal with :

Last Winter, I had a 1613 Classical where (to my horror one morning) the bridge just "let go" of the top (ouch!).

Contacted the Factory, and was issued an RMA to send it back for a repair. Sent guitar to Factory in an Ovation box.

Factory repaired the guitar & shipped it back to me (in a brandy-new Ovation box). Received the box damaged. It took a shot to the headstock end. Didn't let the driver leave our warehouse (one of my drivers boxed-him-in on the loading dock w/one of our trucks) until he initialed my notations on the receipt that the box arrived damaged.

Headstock-end of the OHSC suffered an impact crack and a piece of the outer shell had broken off. After the guitar acclimated, I opened the case & found that the bridge had been beautifully repaired and was re-affixed to a top that now had two structural cracks in it (grrrr!!).

Contacted the Factory, who filed a claim w/UPS to have someone come & physically inspect it. Driver showed up the next day with paperwork & inspected the box & the guitar (I photographed him doing so). He watched as I repacked/taped the box (& again initialled my receipt).

Factory files a claim w/UPS for the damages.

UPS rejects claim stating that Ovation boxes offer "insufficient protection for shipping".

Factory reminds UPS that Ovation boxes were expressly DESIGNED by . . .

(wait for it)

. . . UPS.

UPS foots the bill for the replacement of the top
(and for a brandy-new HSC).

This is tougher as there apparently is no tracking number to go by...My local USPS Postmaster is convinced that it will get here but even she expected it by now...
I'm just concerned that the guitar may have suffered environmental stress from the cold as well as any handling stress encountered...
Hope I'm wrong...it's a beautiful Tak...
Maybe:
Well, hopefully it will be a happy ending by Thanksgiving.

This reminds me of the shipping debacle that predated my purchase of the 1537 from Noah. I think it was "lost" in a warehouse in Salt Lake for 6 months. Claims were made and paid and then it turns up with no shipping damage, but in much worse condition than was represented by the seller. Noah probably fought that one for about a year and then sold it to me for less than he had in it.
With all the convenience of the internet marketplace, I suppose there has to be some aggravation. Sorry it's your turn, Mike.

Four times USPS has shipped Os across the Atlantic to me in less time than this.
Just received a box from Master jeff that has only taken 3 days door to door.
Fourteen days doesn't sound good Mike - get after them.

If it was shipped USPS and was insured, it's possible to get some tracking or delivery information by visiting the Post Office and giving them the number from the insurance form. For some reason they don't have the info available online.
