Cliff,
I am more interesting in talking about the slothead's history, construction and sound. The fact that somebody thinks it's worth 10K or more eludes me. As a collectible or antique, the price is whatever somebody is willing to pay for it, there is no yardstick. As all of us agree and hope (in vain!) Ovation is not quite Martin yet on the collectors market. Most people wouldn't pay more than a couple of thousands for any Ovation (Adamas or no Adamas).

Anyway, the slotheads that I have actually played (an honor, no less) are all wonderful instruments. But they are not out of this world. There are equally amazing sounding Martin's and countless boutique brands. It is special to us because we are Ovation fans. For 10K, I'll add a few more and find that '33 OM-45.

Nice, Paul. A thread from the kinder, gentler days when you could go back and edit a post from 2 months earlier....

Did Colin ever sell it?

Last I recall he ended up keeping it.
He still posts regularly so maybe he will see this and chime in.

Geez, Paul. I come back after a couple days and see this thread back up. Thought maybe it was back up for sale or somebody bought it. I need one in red, though.

Something like 5 or 6, a couple keep a low profile. One of them has/had two of them and another has three of them.

Also check out http://www.OvationGallery.com look under original slotheads.
