Then in May of that year, I was in Phoenix and went by Witko's house. I think it was there that the IRS and PETA got on my tail (fairly certain they were watching his house), and have been hassling me ever since..... There are people I've met thru the OFC that have become very close friends and they will remain close friends long after the OFC.....

Great gathering, great food, real decent players (excluding me, & exhibiting admirable restraint, I might venture!) Forged some excellent comraderie, and had to leave, unfortunately, too soon. I couldn't begin to list all our NWOFC attendees, but gave MWoody "the business" on a new hardshell. Really enjoyed Waskel's rendition of "As the Raven Flies". Always been a big Fogelberg fan. Back-up vocals are not my forte, either. Folks at my clinic ask me about the OFC mug. I just smile......

Met him before he was a member (back when he still had some sanity left and actually worked at his job), and he casually pestered me for about a year before I checked it out. Hope to meet many more when the next NW gathering takes place.

"but": but |b?t| conjunction 1 used to introduce something contrasting with what has already been mentioned • nevertheless; however : he stumbled but didn't fall | this is one principle, but it is not the only one. • on the contrary; in contrast : I am clean but you are dirty | the problem is not that they are cutting down trees, but that they are doing it in a predatory way. 2 [with negative or in questions ] used to indicate the impossibility of anything other than what is being stated : one cannot but sympathize | there was nothing they could do but swallow their pride | they had no alternative but to follow. "true": true |troo| adjective ( truer , truest ) 1 in accordance with fact or reality : a true story | of course it's true | that is not true of the people I am talking about. • [ attrib. ] rightly or strictly so called; genuine : people are still willing to pay for true craftsmanship | we believe in true love. • [ attrib. ] real or actual : he has guessed my true intentions. • said when conceding a point in argument or discussion : true, it faced north, but you got used to that. 2 accurate or exact : it was a true depiction. • (of a note) exactly in tune. • (of a compass bearing) measured relative to true north : steer 085 degrees true.

When I strode manfully across the arrivals lounge at Dulles expecting to be met by Gore Vidal with a guitar, imagine my feelings on being faced with Jed Clampett's idiot nephew. Then in Ct the Moody bear hug set my recovery back months - it was early August before all my internal organs were back in their approximately correct positions. A polite hello would have been enough. I mean, its not as if I like any of these people.

I have been to a few gatherings and have taken close to 400 photos(probably more but could only post the ones that have clean content). Hint: taking pictures is a good excuse for not picking up a guitar in public. I see myself in this scene. A gathering of the OFC and someone on a megaphone says " Phil step away from the guitar, keep hands where we can see them, don't make any sudden moves, you have the right to keep the guitar silent!! Anything you play can and will be held against you. If you can't afford a guitar teacher one will be appointed for you!!

Give you a real high jangly sound. I've always played it as a rhythm instrument but I've heard people finger picking them as well. Shro', you'd better be coming again to CT this year. Don't make me come over there and drag your sorry a** over here.....

I had gotten up at 4am Wednesday, worked all day, taken a sleepless red-eye flight from PDX and arrived at Bradley about 10am Thursday. Got to the hotel and sat in the lobby swilling coffee in a fog of exhaustion until I could check in. Somebody from the OFC came in and we had a nice conversation, but I'm at a loss as to who it was. If it was you and you remember, please except my sincere apologies and let me know so I can write it down in case I get asked again. Please disregard all of the above. After reading a couple posts I missed the first time through, it was Paulcc. He was on my list of possibles. See, I knew it was someone nice!

I don't recall seeing you in '05!I was early at the '05 event and sat outside by the pool wondering where the newbies line up for the ceremonial initiation spanking (I'm still waiting). Little by little people started showing and, well shoot, I'm a shy guy, so I waited until I saw a face I recognized from pics here. Sure enough, that Waskely Wabbit walked out and I knew I was in the right place. Stonebobbo was next (though I have to admit I wasn't sure if he was cwk2 or Bob Seger). Great topic, Phil.

He joined the OFC and posted about nylon string players and me-the-smart-arse chimed in with something profound like - no nylon player worth a shit would be caught dead playing an ovation. I think he posted a sound clip of him playing his country artist. Holy Crap Fatman. The taste of crow is still fresh in my mouth after all these years ... Dave
