Here's my story...and some questions. I sold my '02 CL12 to Lisa. I needed something with an easier neck to accomadate my increasingly arthritic left hand. So I got my 6778 LX NEB. Nice guitar, easier for me to play; however, as time passed I longed for that 12string sound. So I got this '79 PM on ebay last week. $300, acoustic only, and (I'm told) in mint condition. It won't be my main guitar, but I can curl up on the couch with it. So...Questions:This is a 12fret slothead non-cutaway deep bowl. Is this gonna sound like a whole different world compared to my other 12string? Is the PM gonna have an injection-moulded bowl or an earlier-technology bowl...and does that make a difference in the sound? And finally..Cliff, what exactly do you mean by the neck being "less precise" furthur up?

Pacemakers are "the" best bargain on the internet. The neck is most assuredly "Ovation" which means consistent and playable to me. When I sold mine and went "up" to a CL I gained articulation but lost the Chorus that the CL gave.
For the living room or church with 100 listeners the pacemaker will leave a great impression.

I now play a smoove top Adamas which combines the articulation with a chorus if I can learn to work it right.

If you don't like the PM then give me a call! I am feeling reminiscent and GASsy all of a sudden.

I was referring to the particular Pacemaker that I have. For all intents and purposes, it's probably a candidate for a neck reset. The precious owner cut twelve "V"-shaped notches in the top of the saddle to get the action really low. So low in fact, that there was NO break-angle on the saddle. Master Keller provided me a new saddle, which I shaved from the bottom and lowered the action to where it's still got a decent angle and I can at least play 5th position chords comfortably. The action on my s/b Legend -12 is like an electric. Works well for gigs. The Pacemaker sounds really nice though.

Cliff, after what he did to the bridge, it's touching that you still refer to the previous owner as 'precious'.

I was a little worried for a minute. I read the thread topic and thought something else was happening. Occupational hazzard.

It's a fitting name for a nice guitar...considering the average age of the people on this board.
