Hey guy, first post here. I'm looking into getting another Ovation after going about 25 years without one. I'd like to get the Al DiMeola model, but if there's another Custom Legend that's basically the same thing I'm sure that would be fine as well. There are a lot more lines now that there used to be (obviously), and I'm confused about the differnce between the 1779 and C779 models. Is there much there? For that matter, is there much difference between the 1779 and the C2079LX? Is it all the depth of the bowl and electronics?
Thanks in advance!

The C2079LX has the contour bowl and all the LX features. The C779 is the LX with the standard mid-depth bowl. The Al Dimeola II is basically a 1769 (deep bowl) with a boost button for the preamp. The 1779 is a mid-depth Custom Legend.

All are great guitars. OP-50 vs. OP-Pro is like arguing Sirius vs. XM. Both are great and it just depends on your tastes.

From the feedback on the 05 Collectors, I suspect most folk here would encourage you to get the contour bowl and LX upgrade.

Does anyone know a shop in New York City that might have a few different guitars on hand to try? A lot of the big chains seem to be filled to busting with crap these days. Thanks for the info Stonebobo, I'll lean towards the 2079LX if I can swing the price ;-)

Standingovation (Dave) has a C2079LX. Search previous posts. Beautiful instrument.

If you are not in a hurry, rumor has it that there could be some new condition, but ever so slightly used C2079's hitting the OFC For Sale board in the near future.

No hurry, I'll likely need to move one of my electrics to pay for it anyway. That's a great looking guitar, btw.
