My Korean dcs247s came with instructions never to use more than 12's tuned down to open D or face possible bridge lifting/damage. How about the American longnecks??? For sheer unplugged loudness, I would occasionally like 13's tuned the same way.

I always put 13' on my DS768 Longneck. Tuned down one step as recommended by the factory you get the same string tension and same play feeling as on a guitar in standard tuning. No idea if this also works with the DCS247.

I'd use 13s on the US and never think twice about it, make sure you're D or lower. If you're going lower you can go up in guage too. The K version, well I just don't know. In theory the longer scale and Dtuning yeilds the same tension.

I have 13's on my USA longneck. Came that way and I never gave much thought to changing to a different gauge.

After rereading this thread, you guys have me wondering about using 13's on a regular O in standard pitch. Will this cause problems?

All my O's have 13's to concert pitch ....and have for a long time...

Might I add:
I can't speak to the long neck, but once you get used to the tone and volume of 13's it is hard to go back down to anything else...

they do take some getting used to....

13 on a regular guitar at regular pitch is fine. You might have to tweek the neck at first but no prob after that.
