I have a 1687-8 Ovation SN3941-92 that wants to know the year it was born. Can anyone help my guitar out with this. It's driving me nuts, staying up late searching the internet, calling God knows who (long distance most likely). Worse than a kid. It won't let me sleep. Help

It is not uncommon for an instrument to be "new" (never owned by a consumer) and still be a couple of years past it's factory date. A dealer could of had it stored for a time as part of inventory. As long as you have the store receipt with the details, you bought a new guitar as far as the warranty is concerned. And the warranty is about the only practical difference between "new" and "pristine-through-previous-owners", since most makers will not transfer authorized warranty terms to subsequent buyers.
