Location: CA | One of these in the local CL for (I think) a pretty decent price. Photos show a Hartford label, so definitely this one was made in USA. But they still sell these in stores, and Ovation isn't making guitars in US anymore. So are the 'new' 1771 LXs made overseas like every other O? And when would that have started? Seems odd they would keep the same model designation. (I do note that guitars like the US-made 1778Ts have morphed into foreign built 1778TXs, which is easy to spot and understand.) |

Truss Rod Cover sez LX... or at least needs a TRC.
It will have the Mothership on the label.
Also... Real Ovation have the "spoon guitar" on the headstock.

If its made overseas it should be an "AX" model someone may have typoed the description to say LX .
AX models started overseas when Fender shipped US production to Asia,There is the first gen of LX made in New Hartford ,there is a 2nd gen made by DW in the US when they restarted production and there are probably some NOS models still in stores, all the current US production is for Adamas models under GEWA
AX models are not the same as LX models |

Location: Canada | I looked at Ovation website and there are some 1771 varieties but no LX. So if there are some available in stores I would expect them to be old stock. |

Thanks this looks like slim pickings of basic models, but at least they kept some 12 strings. Adamas 12 fret slothead is probably the most appealing of the bunch but will anyone pay what they are asking? |

It seems that people in Europe and Asia value Ovations more than folks in the USA.
Just compare eBay or Reverb prices.... US vs Asia or Europe.
