Regarding Dadi...

I first heard of him in a very old Guitar Player magazine article some time in the mid 70's. I never heard his name mentioned again until I had moved to Reno, NV. There was a little Mom and Pop record store that I used to hang out in after work, and lo and behold they had several Dadi albums! I bought them all! Still have 'em.

After that, I STILL never heard another word about the guy. Nothing. Until one day, after TWA800 went down, I saw an ad in Guitar Player by a certain string manufacturer, which was a tribute to Marcel, and it had mentioned that he was lost on flight 800.

That hit me in the gut.

Years later, I find out that he was returning home to Paris from accepting some music award in Nashville.

Thx for the link lanaki.
Marcel was a great guitarist, number one fingerpicking player for many years here in France. I discovered him in year 1973, and since that time his music keep a very special place in my heart. I play many of his songs. If i actually love, buy and play Ovation guitars, this is due to him.

Indeed! My interest in Ovation really skyrocketed after hearing his playing. I'd been aware of O's almost since the beginning, but after hearing Marcel - I became obsessed with them!

The GP interview with Marcel was very influencial to me as well, because he'd mentioned playing a Telecaster in a Rock band and getting frustrated and giving it up, only to discover Chet and fingerpicking. He then became a solo artist. That was very inspirational to me. I always wanted to be able to gig alone, with no accompaniment, and just let the guitar do the talking. I still play Telecasters in bands, but I do get out and play a lot of solo acoustic dates.

He was in Nashville to receive a "Star" at the "Walkway of Stars at the Country Music Hall of Fame". He was the first non American to receive this award.

He played at the CAAS (Chet Atkins Appreciation Society) and took flight TWA800 home...
