Jack was a huge and (arguably) under-appreciated talent.
There have been many great rock “super groups” and “power trios” but, IMO, Cream was the pinnacle.
For fans of Cream who want a little insight into the history and “personality conflicts” behind the band,
I recommend catching the film “Beware of Mr. Baker.” After watching that film, I wondered how anyone could play with Ginger Baker… then I saw him live with his jazz group a few years ago and saw/heard musicianship (and musicality) on drums that was simply stunning. He’s an incredibly abrasive egomaniac, but a uniquely talented musician. (imho.) |
