Now if I could just somehow get the $2.00 in my checking account to mate and produce 3,848 babies we might get somewhere on this.

There are a few folks here that will extoll the qualities of Collings. I've owned around 15 of them and it's almost no risk, you are virtually assured that you can resell for what you paid. So I've honed on around 7-8 that I currently have and all are stellar. Oh, and you want talk about mandolins and ukuleles ??? In my opinion Collings has 3 things going for it ... 1. They have a founder/leader at the helm who is relentless in his pursuit for perfection, quality, innovation and he is beloved by his employees. Gee, who does that remind you of. 2. They are small scale like a boutique builder, but large enough to have real organization, quality control, marketing, etc. I don't know how many instruments they build a week but it's not huge and I bet the workforce is maybe 25-30 people. The entire building is about the same size as Martin's loading dock. 3. The instruments and the entire operation just reek of Quality. I have never seen better. Obviously this comes at a price, and basically they are expensive as hell. But I have yet to encounter anybody that invested in a Collings and said that it was not worth it. They are not competing for the same buyer as Ovation and there are lots of instances where a nice Ovation might be a better tool for the job. But when you get in to the cream of wooden guitars, Collings is absolutely on the top shelf. You can see some of mine here ... www.collingsgallery.com
