I became the owner of a 1974 Folklore 1114-4 a couple of hours ago. She sounds GREAT, but is in need of some serious TLC.

The neck, fretboard and body are all in fine condition. The fret wire is pretty grungy with only a little wear, but I think they'll clean up nice. The nut and saddle are brittle looking, so I'll replace those. The tuners are original, but with one replaced/mismatched button. The soundboard is slightly wavy and has a couple of along the grain cracks, but were fixed by a professional according to the previous owner. I haven't had the chance to look inside yet. She came at an unbelievably low price, so maybe I'll look into having the top replaced at the Mothership.

Congrats! Very cool find! Look forward to finding out what you decide to do (re: future repairs).

Wow...looks like a great guitar...congrats!  Before you start thinking about replacing the soundboard, take a long hard look at the beautiful honey color, along with the freakin awesome grain...and don't overlook you are trading 40+ish year old aged spruce for a new top.

Unless the top is affecting the playability ... you might be sacrificing some old O mojo.

Oh, I know! For now, it's just going to get the repairs it needs.

The guitar is a lot louder than I expected it to be and has a great tone. I've been looking for a 'fixer upper' for a good while now and this fit the bill. A few parts and a deep clean, and we're good! For $100, I couldn't say no anyway...

This conversation caused me to take my 1114 Folklore out today.
Thanks for the reminder.
Mine has multiple cracks in it's top, but it still sounds great and plays easy.
Everyone should own a Folklore.

Yup... The cracks give it character.
Keep the top.

I didn't think the Mothership would replace just a soundboard. They would put the original neck on a new bowl & top.
Am I wrong in what I remember?
My Legend has the same crack in it. No intention of changing anything.
