It does look TOTALLY like brand new and I couldn't see or find the serial number, but the guy at the pawn shop said he couldn't see it very well but said it started with a 5, so I know it's no older than 1995 (gotta be much newer, since it looks very much like brand new) and could be as new as 2005 (per my Ovation decoder ring), but I swear I cannot find the dang serial number. Where exactly IS the serial number and how or what is the best way to see it/read it? My OLD (1979) Ovation's serial number is easily seen on the inside back just north of the big round hole. Any help in locating my new guitars serial number, so I can know it's approximate age would be greatly appreciated. P.S. Can us newbies with only this are available for posting still create a signature? I can't find that option anywhere, but maybe I just haven't looked hard enough yet. But then again I'm just a... It COULD be stamped on the back of the headstock... As far as your posting options go, I think you're on a pretty short leash until you graduate from puppy school. This is a pic of a Celebrity, but I just grabbed from evilBay... If it is older, your sticker should be in the same place. If it is Newer, it should be on the back of the headstock. Likewise... I just grabbed this off of Photobucket. (it ain't mine)

I swear I did look at the back of the head stock for it and pretty much EVERYWHERE on the outside, especially since I just bought it used and wanted to check for any scratches, nicks, dents, cracks, etc. (there are NONE). I thought I heard or read something about some Ovations having the serial number inside up towards where the neck joins the body, kind of like up and inside. I appreciate the responses, but I'll just have to keep looking....

My old vintage 1979 (year not model) Legend LTD has it on the inside thru the sound hole - just like it's pictured above with a Celebrity and my new/used Legend 1867 model has it on the back of the finned part of the headstock, just like it's pictured above for newer Ovation guitars. I know I looked there for it, but I think the light was bad and my eyes don't see as well as they used to do... AND I think I was expecting the numbers to be a bit more defined or stand out a bit more - silly me! Hey, now I know what year my new Legend 1867 model was made - 2002. Whoever owned it before me really took good care of it, because it doesn't look almost 12 years old. I guess the most important thing is that the serial number on this guitar, just like the one pictured above, also says USA right below it. I'm assuming the newest Ovations (made in Korea type) do NOT say USA below the serial number. Do they say KOREA or just nothing at all? Thanks again OG Arthur and again sorry for having doubted your wisdom. The real stupid irony on my part is that I had examples of each of the two serial number placement areas that you so kindly and informatively illustrated with photos. ANYWAY... once I looked again at my headstock and looked again much closer, well... I felt I should give credit where credit is due (Thanks Arthur) and give myself a heal of the palm upside my forehead, GEEZ!!!! My excuse is that I'm just a... SillyLittleBoy

Do they say KOREA or just nothing at all? The new models don't have the number on the headstock. I had a 1778TX... That had a rectangular sticker inside the bowl. The serial number started with "K" as in Korea. I have a new-ish CC29S-4C... It serial number begins with "C" as in China.
