I got this used… The previous owner is a studio musician and they originally bought the Celebrity for a one-time project. So, the previous owner’s Luthier cut notches into the saddle to lower the strings, after removing all shims. So that would lead me to believe that it came from the Chinese factory with much-too-high action. The serial number on my Korean TX begins with a “K” and it was made in Korea. The serial number on the CC29S begins with “C”… so I am guessing China. Whoever painted/finished the top of the guitar at the Factory reached inside and slathered shellac (whatever) inside of the sound-hole. So there are big finish droplets hanging on the inside edge of the sound-hole. Kinda sleazy. On to my quick review of the sound… This sucker is Loud. The Contour Bowl with the Cedar sounds Nice. This has an OP4BT preamp which produces a nice recreation of the guitar’s acoustic sound through the “mic” channel of my Roland CubeStreet. So, no pre-shape or notch-filter or anything fancy… But the preamp works. But like I said, this thing is loud. So I may be able to just take it out to play acoustically, sans amp. This is a pretty nice guitar for what it is. And if you see one for cheap, go for it. All-in-All this is a nice sounding guitar. And I learnt a new trick for lowering the strings on Celebrity’s and other guitars with Glued-in Epoxied Neck-joints. Yes, the texture does look weird on this one. And here is emergency string-lowering... -edited cuz I still cannot get that "add photos after posting" thing to work- Edited by Old Man Arthur 2012-11-10 9:59 PM

The offshore models can suffer from limited attention to the details... due (imho) to rushed, cost lowering, mass production, assembly line construction. AND YET as you note, "this sucker is Loud", "sounds nice", nothing "fancy" about the pre-amp but it works, all-in-all a "pretty nice guitar"... for the cost.
However, (imho) it's unacceptable for any maker to release a guitar with a bridge set that high! ...well maybe it'd be ok for a Slide guitar

But that may have taken more time than just notching the top, and if it was known the guitar wasn't going to be kept long term perhaps they went for the cheaper quicker fix. As much as we bemoan the differences between the old USA built vs the new asian built, the cheaper imports are still a good bang for the buck. We just got spoiled with the underpriced USA guitars.

just saw an oldie (1617-4 Legend, foil label) sell on ebay for under $140 (w/shpg)!!! It wasn't in perfect condition, but still, that's a deal (imho).

Near the end, I decided to be courteous and let it go... Mine was $88.88. FlySig - Or is this a saddle with an attached piezo on the bottom? The CC29S has a CP-100 pickup which is that one piece deal. And they removed all of the shims first. Then attacked it with a file. I do think that it was a creative solution.

That would explain attacking the top edge rather than the bottom. I had one. The piezo is attached. I got it on a Christmas sale from a local music store on eBay. I got it for less than half what it cost in the store. I didn't have the problem with the bridge. As a matter of fact, the strings were lying on the neck when I got it. I gave the truss rod a little turn and it settled in nicely. It played very well too. Mine had way too much of that plastic stuff (finish) on top so it wasn't very loud. I still liked it. I thought about sanding the finish down to the cedar. Before I could, a friend of a friend offered me a considerable amount more than I paid for it. So I sold it to him. Glad you like yours OMA.
