Location: South Georgia, usa | I need help! I need to refinish a Celebrity and I don't know what to use. The pegboard looks like a thin laminate but it is probably some kind of paint.
The soundboard looks like a very hard epoxy or urethane. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Also is there a book, website, etc. that has this kind of information?
Thanks! |

Location: Phoenix AZ | You didn't provide much detail, but before I started such a project I'd make a checklist. How valuable is this guitar to you, how much effort are you willing to put into it and how upset will you be if you fuck it up.
You're not going to able to strip off the poly. Only way is to sand it off. Most celebs are laminate tops and it's going to be difficult to sand it evenly without going into the ply. Refinishing unless you really know what you are doing and have the right booth to do it in will look home done.
Unless this guitar has exTREme sentimental value to you and is completely unacceptable to you as it is, don't mess with it. You can probably buy a new/used one just like it for a few hundered bucks more than you're going to invest in you refinishing project.
Just my opinion.
