Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | With those inlays was that a longneck? I thought I had only seen those inlays on a longneck...????? |

Location: Colorado | Doesn't appear to be a longneck--22 fret, neck joins the body at the 14th fret. Nice looking though. |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | Not a longneck. I can't remember the actual "name" of the guitar, but I know they were a limited production model made for the European market (Germany?) using Engelman spruce for the tops. One of our members once gave a very good review as he owns one or two of them. If the seller had known and advertised the actual details of the instrument, I'm sure it would have sold for more. Someone got lucky. I had emailed the seller and he explained that what "appeared" to be a crack below the bridge was just the joint seam, and that it was in excellent condition. If I would have been near my computer i would have been tempted to bid at THAT price. If nothing else but to turn around and sell it for more.
Here it is ... Paul Blanchard commented in 2005 ..."A limited number of Engelmann Spruce tops (signified by ES as part of the complete model number) were used on Elites and Legends in the early 90's. They are nice, but not necessarily special unless you really like that particular wood look. Kim told me several years ago that the really rare ones are the ones with solid tops. Most I have seen are matched.
FYI, Instrument Exchange prices are usually very non-reflective of the market and the stores usually don't know much about Ovations."
Beal also commented on the same thread and said they were made for Germany. |

Location: michigan | I was the dummy that asked the question regarding the seam. I stepped out and took longer than I had hoped and didn't get a bid in.
Got distacted from figuring out if I should get he 09 collector or Adamas 2080. What a steal on this one. |

Location: in the land of enchantment | I TRIED, missed it by a coupla bucks... (1996) Elite 1768 -This is one of 50ish made with an Engleman Spruce solid bookmatched top and matching venier spruce peghead, Made for the German market,
but stayed here in the U.S. because of minor glue flaws, and so did not get the EMSX addition
to the label. Thanks to Beal and his memory, and the OFC vault and Jerome’s and KonigKurt’s
documentation...Here’s snippets of what I found out digging through the Vault..Not as dusty in there as I thought.

There were two versions, one legend and one elite. Engleman tops and spruce venieral on the
peghead. Maple sideways inlays on the ebony fingerboard. Nice guitars.
Maybe about 50 of each made (I'm guessing) Your time guess is about right too.

Meyer Music is the distributor. There were some that had minor (as in REAL minor) finish
imperfections and they stayed in the states. Mostly they were glue bleed through around the
binding. They showed up because the Eingleman started out so white. Also the spruce on the
peghead was very unforgiving

There was a round hole and elite style model made for Germany. Nice guitars.
All had solid book matched tops and a matching spruce peghead.
