Location: Phoenix | Played another gig last night with the VXT, I've played many gigs with it but this time I went with a completely different amp setup.
The electric side went into a Peavey Classic 50 2x12 combo, with an old Ibanez Distortion Charger stompbox plugged into the amp's effects loop (but only used a few times). The acoustic as usual went into a DI box then into the PA.
I played mostly rhythym and man did those chords sound great, whether on the clean setting or using the amps lead channel for more crunch...I'm sure the lead player would claim I was too loud but power chords never sounded any better and the few lead lines I played really sang despite my playing skills (or lack thereof).
I've often wondered about Ovation's marketing. This guitar is a real winner, it'd be a fine electric guitar on its own even if it didn't have the acoustic capabilities. Imagine how stunning an all-black VXT would look with black pickups, black bridge, black tuners and black hardware for example.
And have I mentioned how it stays in tune, to me always a sign of a well-made guitar. I took it out of the case and only had to tweak a couple of strings, it was still in tune after two weeks in its case. |

| I think I'd really like a VXT. Soon as I saw it I thought that thing looks right and my playing style has always been half electric and half acoustic so it might work out good. |
