I'd guess paper is easier and cheaper so they just changed to paper labels....

Now if I were StandingOvation, I might tell you that the old metal labels had the same fundamental frequency as the guitar thereby resonating precisely with the guitar itself creating a bell like overtone...
..and then the rest of us would have to guess whether or not he was serious.

Welcome Lesley,

check this link maybe this will help!(site is run by OFC member: StandingOvation)

The factory was probably switching label designs and wanted to use up the older labels.....

As everybody probably knows...I think the metal lables are classy looking and go well with the inside of a bowl. I'd like to see them come back.

The metal labels are classy looking as long as they don't get any deformation, wrinkles, etc. Then they look like $#@&%. I myself prefer the paper labels, as they tend to look better with age.

Of course, a plastic-coated paper label that would resist moisture would look even better.... :) The current white paper has a tendency to show the adhesive underneath as it ages.

My old Balladeer has no label and I don't remember it ever having a label. I've had it for 30 years I guess...

I want a label!!!
