Location: Freeport, IL | Received a 1995 Viper EA68BA today from Paul B. in Nebraska. Is it all that it's cracked up to be? Yeah, and more.
This instrument had been set up by the guys in the factory, frets dressed etc. and is a joy to play. I put 11's on it and it is absolutely perfect.
I ran it through an old Fender tube amp this morning and a Trace Acoustic this afternoon, and it sounded great through both. Whatever you need to get - soundwise - it's there in spades. Amazing instrument. Al is right about it being way underrated in the Ovation line. They should push the Viper like crazy to all kinds of artists. We know that Dave Matthews plays the Gibson Chet Atkins SST, but the Viper is right there in every aspect. Additionally, it is a looker! Until, I started frequenting the OFC, however, I had never even heard of this thing. Too bad for me.
Thanks again to Paul for a great instrument and to Tony for making it happen and to Al for putting up with my craziness. I plan to keep this one, so don't even ask.
Sincerely,
Jon Van Gilder

Sounds like marketing...

That's great news! Just wait until you start trying out the vintage O solid bodies. ;) |

| Hey I found one of these for sale? This one has a round back made out of wood?
Is that the way some of these Vipers are made? Or is this guy full of it?

Location: Tennessee | The "new" Viper was a joint project between Hamer and Ovation. The "bowl" is carved mahogany (just rap your knuckles on the back) ... there's a picture of it here on the Ovation website:

I have both a steel string and a bass version. Both are fantastic instruments ... regardless of the cheap prices they're fetching today. |

Location: Iowa | I just received my 6778LX from Paul yesterday and I couldn't have been more pleased with the service or the intrument. But unfortunantly unexpected expenses came up and I had to post it on ebay the same day. Anyways I strongly recommend his service. And if your interested my guitar is here 6778LX. I've yet to play the viper, (trying to keep within the topic) but look forward to it if one ever appears at the store. |
