Finally the beast has cleared customs and should be with me tomorrow or Tuesday.

I am continually amazed by the volume/tone of the 84C as it's just a SSB, I've heard the 1537 called a tone monster. Now if thats right I am going to be one happy bunny.

I like the SSBs for practising, the 1537 will be used for acoustic gigs and the Adamas W537 (if I find a CB) for recording...

SEE! You *DO* several Os. Apart from anything else it saves time if you play in a variety of tunings (as I do). Just grab the right git

Dweez, I played my 1537 on Friday nite at a jam, and at church this morning (it has updated electronics). Outstanding guitar in both settings.....

Updated electronics you say. It is the one offered by some of the members on this board (forget who). What do the new electrics do you it/you?

Dweez, there are other threads on this, but in a nutshell, in 2006, when Ovation came out with the Adamas reissues, they had to build new 2 knobber electronics because they didn't have any of the old ones left.

This was good because the old electronics were a 30 year old design. As long as they were building new electronics, they put some time in on the design. As a result, the new 2 knobber electronics sound much better than the 30 year old design. The same is true for the stacked electronics used in the John Lennon reissues and the Glen Campbell reissues.

So does the beast have to go back to Mother?

Interesting....I was looking at some on Ebay that seemed to be the new stock two knob electronics and was very curious about putting them into my 1537

For those of you who live on my budget, be aware that the newer pre-amps are a bit pricey, especially if you are about to fix something that isn't broken. After reading this thread, I called Kim today because my 1537 is at the mothership now. Suffice to say, I left the original electronics in place. What can I say, social workers aren't known for being flush with expendable cash. :p

Though I work for the church, I've a feeling my wife and kids might resent my ordination.
