Joined: October 2006 Posts: 5576 Location: big island | in hawaii, one of the meanings of "popolo" is "very dark". in hawaiian slang it is used to identify a person of very dark color, but primarily of african descent. just like "haole" originally meant any foreigner, but it is now used in reference to caucasian (light skinned) people. both of these terms can be used in a derogatory manner though. so, yes...one can technically "talk dirty in hawaiian"! :D | ||
