Hello,

Can anybody tell me about the N778? I have one, and was told that they were only made for export, and that none should be in the States.

Here's a link I found:

http://www.sist.ac.jp/~ishida/ishida/Guitar/N778.htm

Thanks.

As far as I know ...

They were made for the Japan market. The "N" means Nakeo, the name of the Japanese distributor for Ovation. The N778 sold in Japan and 1778 sold in the US are as far as I know identical except that the Nakeo version has abalone trim on the neck and body. Probably a handful never made it to Japan (just a guess) and some others have filteed back into the US on the used market. Seems like a nice guitar.

they are also referred to as "Craftsman" and you can find more references to those online..

a couple of us on the forum have owned/ do own these.. mine was a blem marked used...

great guitar along the lines of a custom elite, but with rosewood fretboard instead of ebony, abalone neck binding and maple inlay as opposed to abalone inlay on the markers on the custom elite..

limited run not released(officially)in the US market, and great playing and sounding guitar.
