Hey all, I'm new here.
I've been a big Ovation fan for awhile and decided to finally take the plunge and buy one.
The Ovation I'm interested in is a CC65 Celebrity made sometime in the 90s, however the guitar has this crack:

Is this guitar still worth purchasing or should I give it a miss? If I buy it, what would repairs cost (if necessary)

I'm really worried about the bridge lifting up and those types of problems.

The price is right for me, I'm just unsure do to this crack.

Any help is appreciated!

That crack is in finish, not the wood.
The CC65 has a Laminate top, so that crack should not migrate into the wood.
Rumor has it that there is a way to fix those cracks by cleaning the crack and filling it with crazy glue.
If you have never done this, I would not recommend you trying it on a functioning guitar.

As to the bridge lifting up... That would be unrelated to that crack.

Purchasing any guitar you should check the bridge, and the string height, and fret wear.
If you are buying this guitar in-person you should play it first.

As to repairs... This is a Celebrity guitar. You can only get repairs at you local shop, or do them yourself.
This guitar won't be under any warranty. If it were, they would just replace the guitar.
They don't "fix" them.

If the guitar plays well and has an attractive price, the crack will not affect the function of the guitar.
It would just give it "character".
But know that you will have that crack for the life of the guitar if you buy it.
Don't buy it with intentions to fix that crack, cuz that probably won't happen.

Thanks a lot for the help man! It's really cleared up my mind about the guitar, I think I'm going to take it!!! Pretty excited now.

The guy is a bit of a distance from me so I'll have to drive to see the guitar. The bridge is not lifting at all, I was just worried that the crack may affect it.

Just one more question, the Celebrity guitars are the lower end in the Ovation line. Is this guitar worth purchasing for long-term use or should I rather just save my money? It will be my first Ovation guitar and I've wanted one for a long while.

I used to own a bunch of Celebrity guitars... now I am down to One. (I have USA Ovations)
If you can find/afford a USA-made Ovation, anybody here would recommend the USO.

BUT! If the guitar plays well and it is inexpensive...
Well, price is the major reason to buy a Celebrity.
The Ovation webpage sez that it has a laminate top.
So it won't "open-up" like a solid wood top, but it won't crack like a solid wood top either.

At my local guitar shop, "Chuck" was recommending a laminate-top Epiphone DR-100 to a street musician instead of a solid wood AJ-220S because the laminate is sturdier.
Not to advertise Epiphones... but the same principle applies here.

The final question is... How much money are we talking about.
Because at $350 you start being able to buy USA Ovations.
(might take some patience and searching, but...)

Thanks for all of the advice man! Been posting everywhere about this but this is the only place I've managed to learn anything useful regarding this purchase.

Okay I'm getting it for about $200. It has a hardcase included.

Could you please advise me as to what I should do about the humidity with this guitar?

I don't know where you live....
I live in the Great Northwest where humidity is pleasant.
I still use Herco Guardfather humidifiers in my cases.
A damp sponge in a baggie with a coupla holes punched in the baggie will work too.
If you live in a humid environment it should be okay.
But both central heating and air conditioners will dry-out the air.

There are some areas of the world with too much humidity... Swamps, Louisiana, Florida.
But with a Celebrity Ovation, with a laminate top, you should not have much problem.
If the fingerboard gets too dry you will feel the frets starting to hang over the edges.
Then get an in-case humidifier. Or make one.
