Greetings, All:

I am considering buying a used guitar from Musicians Friend. They will pay for shipping and say that if I don't like it, I can return it within 45 days, for a refund. I would have to pay the return shipping, about $40. That sounds reasonable to me. Is there anything that I need to watch out for?

Cheers,
Daniel

A returns policy is pretty safe, as long as the company doesn't go belly-up. It would be worse if they went into receivership after they got your money, but before they shipped the guitar.

Shoot us the details, leapin. Chances are there is someone on the OFC who would be willing to give it a lookover for you. Even get you on the phone while they're checking it out, so you get as close to personal with it as possible.

I felt the same as you when I bought my Elite off ebay, but I was happy with the purchase. You can read, however, about DaveKell's recent disappointment. On the other hand, I've sold several guitars and shipped, and never had a complaint. and MF has a pretty great reputation, and they're not likely to just drop out anytime soon.

I've bought 2 guitars from them and kept them. I bought another, and I later sold it. I bought three others and sent them back without any problem, no questions asked. In fact, in one case the item was falsely advertised. They researched and changed the online listing within 24 hours to be accurate. They paid for the return and later gave me an additional 100 off my next item.

So, I would say from my experience that musicians friend is a legit place.

from what i am told musicians friend is owned by guitar center so i would think that they are a legitimate company to deal with. i bought a lap steel guitar from them last year and everything went smooth. everyone that i know who has delt with them say they have not had any problems if they wanted a return or a refund. Way-back-when I bought an Ultra 2171 from MF and I had to send it back...

They paid shipping both ways and sent me a new one.
