Solid top or laminate?

Location: New Jersey		Hi Folks, I was under the impression that the Korean Celebs were not solid tops but laminates. I'm still searching for as much info as I can on my '05 SACP247. I found this Korean website which had some nice photos of the guitar in different finishes. Of course I forgot to buy the Rosetta Stone software for Korean -but I did see this photo and the sticker says...well, you can see what it says. Do they tell the truth or is this marketing hype? And if it IS a solid top-is it quilted maple? Maple veneer over solid Spruce? Thanks for any info you can give.

Some, if not many, Celebrity guitars have solid tops.
CSE and CDX are solid. Some others too I guess.
Also, there are Cedar topped Celebrity's.

Now... Looking at that Quilted Maple, I don't know if that would be a veneer or what.
When you look inside is the wood-grain lengthwise and does it look like Good grain.

I once had a really pretty CS257 Celebrity, but when I looked inside there was a seam running at a 60° angle and the wood grain went two different directions.
So many laminate tops are really obvious when you look inside.

Side story... I had a China-made iDea CC54i that stated solid-top on the label on the box.
Looking inside... Yup, it looked solid and the wood grain went the right way.

Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent		It would be VERY unusual to have a solid maple top. I had to custom order mine.

Location: New Jersey		Thanks for the replies- I'll definitely check the inside. I know that when I look at the sound holes, there are three distinct "layers"- the uppermost being the epaulets. I figured that the next layer was the maple and then the Spruce. I'm too inquisitive for my own good sometimes- the guitar looks great and plays beautifully- what can I say, I'm a history buff.

You still have to be careful when you compare the inside. Again, I don't know about the imports, but American Ovations have their own way of doing laminated tops that can fool the casual observer.
