Heard an interview with Joe Cocker on NPR last Sunday. I guess he's one of those "you either love him or you hate him" type artists. I personally have always loved him, and I think he sounds fantastic on his new album. Here's the link:

Saw him not too long live ... he was really really good. Had Mike Finnegan on keys for him, too. Cocker did a cover of Come Together and hit it out of the park. He's still got pipes, that's for sure.

I saw him about five years ago in a very small venue - small town ampitheater. I was amazed to be in the same space with him. He did "Help from My Frends" and it was great. By the way, I thought everyone loved Joe Cocker. I think he's one of the most amazing talents of the past 50 years. I still play that self-titled album of his all the time (Delta Lady, Something, ... he does it so well). Mike

Cocker has a ranch on the western slope in Colorado. His family used to own a restaurant/ice cream shop in Crawford, which was a few businesses posing as a tiny town catering to the local ranchers. Through the motorcycle rallies we sponsored for many years in nearby Paonia, we came to know Joe and his family. He was very generous and down to earth, and particularly friendly to bikers, always passing out free swag. They made some original varieties of ice cream, too, like wild blackberry, that were terrific. The restaurant closed down a few years ago and we lost our connection, but it was fun while it lasted.
