My 2771LX is only a few months old, and the preamp is on the fritz already. The red BATT light remains on all the time, and the tuner no longer functions, only flashing the occasional up or down arrow but never a note letter. I thought at first the battery was getting low, but two replacements have failed to fix the problem.

Anyone else have a similar problem. I would like to troubleshoot before having to send it away. Thanks!

Someone here may know, but I haven't a clue!
[Troubleshoot? Are the wires correctly connected to the back of the 'can'? That's my first thought]

If the guitar was purchased new I would just send it back.
Contact the MotherShip and see if you can just return preamp module, not the whole guitar.

Pop it out of the guitar and make sure there is nothing on the contacts.

Outside of that, contact the store. They should be able to expedite a new one.

Don't want to point out the obvious, but you're not leaving a plug in the output jack, are you?

Thanks for the responses. No, the guitar is not plugged in, and there is no apparent contamination in the preamp connection. I have taken it out and reseated it several times to no effect. Oh well. I was hoping to find a fix without having to send it away, but will have to arrange replacement or repair I suppose.

Aha! I have found the cause, though not a solution. When I push on the preamp face a little it moves very slightly downward and starts working normally again. But it doesn't stay down, after a bit it will pop very slightly up again and go back to being non-functional. It appears to be installed correctly, and I have taken it out and put it back many times, trying to get it seated properly. Not sure if there's anything I can do to it to make a good fix. Perhaps the preamp electrical connection socket needs to be slightly raised somehow.

I have received no response at all from the outfit I bought it from. Are there other ways to get to Mothership servicing without going through the sale store?
