one of my favorite all around bands when i was coming into age was spirit.i always thought that they were the leaders into bringing jazz and some fusion style into to rock & roll . i just did a wikipedia search on them and what an interesting life they had . randy california drowned in hawaii surfing , but he saved his sons life , (mr. skin)
ed cassidy is still alive at 87 & on and on .
i wont bore you yapping about it but spirit was a great band and a big part of my interest in music .to this day their music still seems fresh(garbage) to me .GWB

randy was a stellar guitars and cassidy a killer drummer

mark andres not too shabby either.

I think this band just did not get enough recognition IMHO

Spirit were seminal. They impacted music in a big way. Not to mention Led Zeppelin ripped off a Spirit song for Stairway. I had a good friend back in the mid 70's who was related to the band. Randy was only a few years older than me so it doesn't make me feel old at all. But his dad seemed ancient even back then ... he was like 10 years older than MY dad.

Natures Way is one of the first songs that rolls off my finger-tips when I pick up a guitar.

There entire first album was/is a great listen.

Still one of my favs.

I saw them live at Liberty Hall in Houston many many years ago. Place held about 100 people. It was an awesome show and they played like there was 10,000.
