The SMT is a great guitar...different than a wood top or an Adamas textured top.

Initially, I was influenced by the comments on the board. After having one for several months, I was impressed. By the way, sold as a favor to someone, not due to dissatisfaction.

As recommended to me, I recommend the textured top found in the 47RI, Adamas I, Adamas II, or U681T...however, for less bucks, the SMT is a fine guitar.

I know the rim on the textured-top models adds some depth and, as a result, some more volume to the sound. But except for the finish is there really a difference in the 2 tops?
