Location: Boise, Idaho | The local GC has a Martin D41 that looks to be in decent shape for $2500. I didn't spend any time with it, because about 6 young guys came into the acoustic room just after I got there. As usual, just low end Os, except for a beat up, used CL, so the D41 and another used Martin were the only things interesting.
That's way out of my price range, but thought some of you would know if the D41s are any good or might even be interested. |

Location: ms | I had a D41,i had to sell it a few years ago when i got hurt( i fought the horse and the horse won).I really liked it,it was setup by Chris Ledbetter who was Jackson Browns guitar tech at the time. I have never had a dred that played better.I really like the bling but my first D28 sounded better and i`ve played a lot of D28`s and D18`s that i liked the sound as good or better. Heck my OOO1 sounds about as good. The bottom line is the woods are supposed to be a better grade than 28`s and it looks great.I got mine at a lot better price and you can beat that price,but you may have to look for a while. |

Location: Minden, Nebraska | Martin most likely has unequaled name recognition in the market due to their longevity, and that allows them to get away with their pricing. Some Martins have tone that makes you weep, but I don't think any one manufacturer has a DNA that is equally replicated in every piece they produce. We all know some Ovations sound better than others of the same year and model. To drop $2500 on a D41 calls for more than 'gettin' lucky'! |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Wouldn't it be nice if they had a $2500 Adamas at the local GC? I don't go in there as much as I used to, but I bet it would hang high on the wall until I bought it. None of the kids that work there now have any appreciation for Ovations, or much else, for that matter. |

Location: ms | Mark, you are so right. I go to the GC over in Mobile AL( not often) they only want to talk taylor.The people there for the most part know very little about guitars. I`ve give you an example you can relate to. Your a car guy, in the old days i worked for a car dealer that owned an auto parts store, i was in parts and service. Back then the people behind the counter even in a parts house knew a fair amount about cars, usually much more than the guy off the street.Now days at least down south we have Auto Zone and O`rileys, chain stores. The only thing you need to know to get a job there is to use a computer.The other day i had to tell a kid there that he did have a throttle position sensor for a 2001 jeep cherokee! And he did. |
