I have an older model Balladeer. 1111-4 C 709 that I got new. I was looking to get some new tuning machines for it. Anyone have any suggestions of what would be good? The originals still work well and hold tune. Would I hurt the guitar value by altering it? Thanks in advance.

Kluson SD9005MN are the originals. They are great tuners. I would not change it. If you're hellbent on spending money I'd put on a new set of the same tuners.

If the originals work well and tuning is stable, why replace them?

I just was curious. Frankly I just wanted to make string changing easier and thought maybe some of the newer tuners would help. Just getting old and lazy. Thanks for the info. I think I will just leave it alone. Here is a picture of the old girl. After almost 40 years love her more than when she was new.

The Klusons are the easiest you will ever change. No hole, just a slot and you stick the string end right down into the shift. And unstringing is even easier !!!

DON'T CHANGE THEM ...
