I've loved this guitar since the day I opened the box from Al. Wow! It was my favorite for quite a while.

But I've moved on to a nylon string Takamine, and realized that I just don't play this anymore. Its time to pass it on to a proper Ovation enthusiast who will be able to enjoy it.

I assume you all are familiar with the specs on these, so I won't bother repeating all of them. This is #2 of 12 from the first run of 12-fret koa's that Al put together a few years ago. It is in fantastic condition except for

1) A small ding on the back side of the neck (clearly marked in the photos)
2) One of the latches on the case (the one with the lock) doesn't close.
3) Incidental play wear that you would expect from a few years of use...very minimal fret wear, very minimal pick marks on the top.

Playability is excellent. VIP-5 preamp works perfectly.

And I suppose I should mention that the outside of the case has a normal amount of minor scuffs and such.

Price: $1500, shipped anywhere in the lower 48.

If interested, send email to jmiller speedbinder.com

Thanks!

Edit: I just remembered I have some YouTubes up where I'm playing this guitar. Here is Somewhere Over The Rainbow and here is Jesu .

You get a nice look at the binding here:

Here is where you can see the ding on the neck. The fibers appear to just be smashed in, so if you want to, you could steam that out and end up with an invisible repair. Personally, its never bothered me, so I left it alone.

There it is: #2/12...

I also have a lo-res image of the case as well as a high-res image if you are interested.

If my memory serves me correctly, I believe this is only the second time one of the original 12 has been offered for resale.

I've had a couple of people ask, so...

Yes, it comes with all the factory paperwork, including the CofA. I also have some miscellaneous factory goodies that I will throw in: A replacement UST, some coasters made from soundhole cutouts, a really nice "Ovation" placard, assorted brochures and such.

When I first got this, the electronics would cut out intermittently. Real PITA. Thanks to the help from Al and John, we eventually traced it down to a bad can that the pre-amp mounts into. Once that was replaced, all was well. In the process, John had sent me several preamps and UST's to test out. By the time we got it solved, he said not to bother sending back the last UST, so that's how I ended up with a spare.
