I was at our local GC tonight, and they have a used Adamas W597 in absolute mint condition. I couldn't remember the whole serial, but it started with 18, it's a deep body cutaway 6-string with the strange patterned top (wood?). It has the Optima preamp in it, so I'm assuming that it's a late 90's model. They're asking $999 for it, but it looks like it's been there three or four months, so they'll probably deal on it.

If anyone's interested, let me know. Unfortunately, my GAS is already focused another direction.

BTW, anybody know more about the W597 model? What is with the weird glossy patterned top?

I have one. The design on the top is cross-weaved graphite and gives a good look when lit up. This is a pretty straightforward Adamas with great bass acoustic response and a very good sounding amplified sound.

I thought the W597 was a mid-depth bowl? At least the one I just bought is compared to my 1537. Wish I hadn't bought mine a few months ago as it sounds in a lot better shape. Maybe I should buy it, then sell mine?

Is it natural graphite or ruby (was blue an option?).

PS....which electronics package is in it. The one I bought has the newer version (Op-Pro maybe?) that is silver and is an oval, versus some older ones having a more square looking set-up that is black. Not sure if that is just cosmetics or if there is an actual difference.

Come to think of it, I think it is a mid-depth bowl. It's got the black/charcoal graphite color on the top, with ebony fretboard and headstock. The electronics it the Optima system, which is a black rectangular system with gain & notch, tuner, and 4-band EQ. It's what I have on my 1881, and I love it.

There's a Blue one at the Ted Brown in Silverdale. The Tacoma GC is sporadic at best.

The Tacoma Ted Brown stays on top of things and keeps a good inventory going!
