My job required me to endure several hours of hard core punk rock yesterday. Some of the most God-awful noise I ever heard (right down there with Gangsta-Rap). It's bad when you need subtitles on screen to decipher what the guy right in front of you is singing(screeming). Then up pops Dr. Know, of the Bad Brains playing a Deacon. At least he has taste in guitars. The Bad Brains were one of the pioneers of this genre and are decidedly better than the rest.
The Bad Brains have since found religion and are now playing reggae, which in my opinion is a step in the right direction.

"P**s off your parents!"

SO,punk rock succeeds wildly with you. ;)
While too old to be a real fan of that genre, many individual punk acts have appealled to me, and I respect the badass attitude. (just keep it off my yard...)
old punks to give a listen too...
The Electric Chairs - Blatantly Offensive
The Clash - (duh, anything)

Remember, 70% of everything is c**p.
(with the possible exception of Mozart, but we don't know how much hasn't survived...)

I LIKE The Clash. The Clash isn't really punk anyway. According to this documentary, The Electric Chairs and The Clash don't count. This was true hard core punk ala: Bad Brains, Black Flag, SST, DYS, MDP, Husker Du, 7 Seconds, Minor Threat, State of Alert, Teen Idles, Adolescents, SS Decontrol, Flipper, and many many more. Even bandmembers in interviews say "..todays f#@*in punk ain't f#@*in punk, punk is dead today...."
It's all pretty hard stuff to listen to.

That's awfully generous of you -- based on what i hear being put out there these days, in the "popular" spectrum. Oh, for a Cole Porter, or Gershwin -- now those guys could write popular music.

I saw Sum 41 live last year. Every song was loud and had the same tempo - fast. They jumped around on stage alot. And the guitarist had a nice collection of guitars. It's not music I would listen to much at home, but they were fun as hell to see live.

Cole Porter wrote some c**p!

Begin The Beguine

The good news is, most of the bad just fades away over time. Someday no one will remember The Beatles "Mr Moonlight."

Punk IS dead. If it weren't it would be long past time to kill it. Only Rock 'n' Roll lives forever!

Dezignilla: Agreed. I've seen live acts kill that I would never allow in my home. Niel Diamond first comes to mind...
