Anyone ever play a 'Craviola'? Apparently that's this guitar, only without the Jay Turser moniker... Thought it was interesting so decided to share :D

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I guess Ovation should be proud. How many ideas can be poorly imitated before it becomes a joke?

Location: Scotland | These were originally made in Brazil by the Giannini company, from I think the late 60's. This appears to be a fairly close copy. Some of the higher end Giannini models were made from good materials to quite high standards. The Craviola came in 6 string, 12 string & nylon-string versions. The were quite popular in Europe in the 70's. They company is still around;

The website doesn't list the Craviola, in fact they now appear to be mostly importers of generic Pacific Rim instruments. Some of their traditional South American instruments, which I would guess they make rather than import, look interesting.
There's an original Giannini 12-string currently on Gbase at $495

Location: 6 String Ranch | Giannini was the largest manufacturer down there. At one point we talked with him about a liscensing deal, he'd make roundbacks for the South American market but it didn't go anywhere. Some of these "Breadweiner" type guitars were pretty good. |
