Location: Anchorage, Alaska | I'm thinking about adding electronics to an older Glen Campbell 1118-4 I just bought from one of the OFC members. I have been told it is quite easy (for a pro) and the plug in will be in the strap button? What can you guys tell me about this? Is one type of installazation better than others? How about opinons on the different pick up possibiblities for this guitar? Thanks in advance. |

Location: south east Michigan | The same thing has crossed my mind of late. My pre-electric Balladeer is due to go back to the mothership for some work. I am thinking since it's there, why not make it more current? It's not like it's a collectors item or anything. But I think I would want to stick with Ovation brand electronics. |

Location: Anchorage, Alaska | Yea I'm waiting on the 1974 Glen Campbell 12 string I just bought from one of the club members and was thinking that since I just bought a new Genz Benz acoustic amp I'll need some electronics in this "new to me guitar". I'd rather have it done locally since shipping from Alaska to "the mother ship" and back would probibly be cost prohibitive. |

Location: SoCal | I've added electronics to two guitars, a 1978 Legend and a 1969 GC 12 string. The Legend got a LR Baggs undersaddle transducer which also has a volumen wheel mounted just inside the soundhole. The GC had electronics added by Ovation, with an OP 40 and a compensated saddle.
Both sound good plugged in. The system installed at Ovation cost almost twice the local job, but gives more flexibility with the onboard controls. I'm happy with both.
If the work is done locally by a good tech, then there should be no trouble. |

| I currently own a 71, 1111-1 with an aftermarket transducer(unknown type) passive, out through strap pin. it is very balanced plugged in. and probably a very old unit looks like it's been in there quite a while.
I feel that with the current state of technology and hardware out there (Ovation or other manufacturers) that you can't go wrong with this option as long as professionally installed.
I hear that the K&K pure country is unreal.
just my .02

Location: Carle Place, NY | The easiest way to add a pickup is to install an under the saddle transducer. I'm moderately handy and I've installed one myself on a dreadnaught Taylor. The Martin/Fishman Thinline II is about $70 and your local shop will probably get about $50 to put it in if you don't want to DIY. You'll need an external pre-amp though to make the most of it. A basic GII Fishman is about $60 and works very well. LR Bagg's systems are very well rated but more expensive. The Fishman Thinline won't effect the acoustic sound of the guitar at all and you can always upgrade the external electronics if you want to. |
