I think Al had several of them when I got mine. You might want to check with him if one might still be available. High end mandolins are insanely expensive which by comparison this one was an absolute steal.

It's the no-controls preamp of the FD14, just a battery and an output jack some impedance matching. I assume the thing is EQ'd specifically for mando.

I think "line driver" is what Takamine calls their version of this type pre-amp. Not sure that Ovation has an official name for it. Some folks call it "direct out", but in my mind that is not correct. I think of "direct out" as a fishman type deal (I have it on a few ukuleles) where the pickup os just wired to the jack and you need to use a completely external pre-amp or DI box.
