 | Hi! New member here. After nearly 2 decades of admiring and desiring an Ovation, I was able to get a Celebrity CC57 last night with a hard case for $65! I can't afford a USA made Ovation but the Celebrity is a long awaited addition to my herd.
I was able to lower the action by watching the Ovation video and she pays much nicer now.

I was talking to a salesman for Kaman some years ago. I told him that I played guitar and he told me that the Ovation design was based on Kaman's helicopter blade technology. Helicopter blades must be balanced either harmonically or in some way that I cannot remember and they used their technology to design the bowl on the Ovation guitar to give it the best sound attributes.

Has anyone heard of this before?

I love this guitar and look forward to using it in my band. The OP20 EQ is great and I love the built-in tuner.

 | Welcome to the asylum!
My first Ovation was a celebrity I bought new in the 80's. I played that thing for a long time, and my sister still has it somewhere.

And the history of Charlie Kaman and the design of the original Ovations is worthy of soemone writing a book.....wait..

 | Congrats and welcome. That's a sweet $65 snag, the case alone is worth that.

 | Thanks! I put electric strings (.010) on it but changed to acoustic (.013). They seem to work better. |
